How do I register to vote?

Residents of the Town of Woodruff may register to vote at the clerk’s office at any time, during regular office hours, up until 5 PM on the Friday before an election. Be sure to bring with you a valid photo ID and proof of residence.

A valid driver’s license or state ID is fine if the address listed is current; otherwise you will need to bring other proof of residence, such as a utility bill or bank statement.

If you are already registered to vote, you do not need to re-register unless you change your name or address.

Voters may also register to vote online, as long as it is more than 20 days before an election.
To register to vote online, go to https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/

On the MyVote website, you can also:

  1. Update your name or address, or both. 
  2. Find your polling place.
  3. Find info on the next statewide election.
  4. View a sample ballot.
  5. Request an absentee ballot.

Frequently Asked Questions

You have a couple of options. The easiest is to go to the website MyVote.wi.gov

On this website you can enter your name, address, and birth date in the “search” function, and it will tell you whether you are currently registered to vote anywhere in the state, and will also tell you your correct polling place. If the address is not correct, you will need to update your address first, then it will show you the correct polling location.

You may also call or stop in the clerk’s office and we would be happy to help you.

If you are already registered to vote in the Town of Woodruff, but you have changed your address, you will need to re-register in order to update that information for the State of Wisconsin.

This is true even if you just moved to another apartment in the same building! The easiest way to do this is by going to MyVote.wi.gov and updating the information online.

You may also stop in the clerk’s office during regular office hours and pick up a paper voter registration application to fill out and we will process it for you. Make sure you bring a photo ID and current proof of residence.

A valid photo ID just needs to show who you are. It does not have to list your current address.
Examples include:

  • Driver’s license or state-issued ID;
  • U.S. passport;
  • Veterans Affairs ID; tribal ID card;
  • Student ID card (if accompanied by enrollment verification).

Proof of residence is something that shows where you live. It may not just show a P.O. Box; it must have your residential address.

These include: documents issued by a unit of government -- clerk’s office, state agencies, county health dept., state university or public school, federal government entities, or another country; also included are: Utility or phone bills; bank and credit card statements.

Some valid examples of the above are:

  • A letter from the town clerk.
  • Deer hunting license.
  • Social Security or Medicare statement.
  • Cell phone bill.
  • WPS bill.
  • Credit card statement.
  • Home mortgage statement.
  • Vehicle registration form from DOT.

Some documents that are NOT accepted:

  • Vehicle insurance card from insurance company.
  • Health care statement from insurance company.
  • Forwarded mail with yellow sticker.
